Why List Your Books on Indieguana?
As an indie author myself, I know that we’re always juggling two resources to grow our readership: time and money.
Indieguana is already free, but what about the time it takes to list your books and post updates? We’ve made it easy to do both, but sometimes even an hour of time is too precious to gamble.
Here’s the lowdown. I’ve been marketing for a long time, and I built this platform because I spent the last few years examining the indie book space and learning firsthand what was missing. Most book platforms fail authors in one of three ways: they’re discovery-only, they’re reader-first and authors are an afterthought, or they’re author-tools-only with no reader side. Indieguana is the only platform built for both at once.
Author-First Features
1. A real author dashboard with meaningful numbers
Not just “you have 3 books listed.” As authors, we’re often starved for signal. When you log into Indieguana, you see shelf adds, profile views, wishlist count, and which books are getting the most action — that’s data you can’t get anywhere else for free. Even better, I’m working with Amplitude integrations to build out even more rich metrics as the site’s traffic grows.
2. The status pipeline as a marketing tool
We think in release stages (drafting → editing → ARC → released). No other platform surfaces this publicly. A reader who wishlists a book in “editing” status and gets a notification when it hits “ARC” — that’s a built-in pre-launch funnel.
3. ARC reader recruitment
This is a serious pain point for indie authors right now. When you mark a book as “ARC”, readers can apply with one click.
4. A public author page worth sharing
Authors need a link they’re not embarrassed to put in their email signature, and not every indie author wants to spend time or money building a professional site. Your Indieguana profile page is built to be a hub, and we’ll continue taking feedback from authors to make it as useful and shareable as possible.
5. Series management that actually works
Indie authors who write series are underserved everywhere. Indieguana shows reading order clearly, lets you control it, and surfaces “Book 2 and 3 are coming” complete with the ability to share and promote WIPs — readers follow series, not just books. We know this.
6. Simple but effective tools
I was often surprised to see that the most common author marketing necessities haven’t really been addressed beyond telling authors they should do them. That’s why features like the press kit download and “Why Read This?” handout generator exist. Sometimes the simplest efforts can have a huge impact on productivity and sales.
As a final note, remember that Indieguana is being built for indie authors by indie authors. I personally collect feedback on a daily basis, and add requested features as quickly as I can implement them. Some of the bigger updates take more time (such as social reading) but are in active development.
I’m sure this helped clarify the vision and value of Indieguana. If you’re ready to sign up, rest assured that you will have your first book listing up and customized within minutes — and I’m confident you’ll find it was time well spent!
