You may delete your account at any time by contacting us. GenreDB reserves the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, as described in Section 10 below. —

4. Intellectual Property Ownership

4.1 Your Content Is Yours

Authors and users retain full ownership of all intellectual property they bring to GenreDB. This means your books, stories, characters, fictional worlds, cover art, author bio, and all other creative works you upload or share on the Site remain entirely your property. GenreDB makes no claim of ownership over any of your creative work.

4.2 License You Grant to GenreDB

By uploading or posting content to GenreDB — including but not limited to book covers, descriptions, excerpts, banners, and profile photos — you grant GenreDB a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute that content for the following limited purposes: – Operating and maintaining the Site and its features – Promoting and marketing GenreDB (for example, featuring your book or profile on our social media channels or in promotional materials) – Improving and developing the platform This license does not transfer ownership of your content to GenreDB and does not give GenreDB the right to sell your content or use it in any way that falls outside of operating and promoting the platform. You can withdraw your content at any time by removing it from the Site or by deleting your account.

4.3 GenreDB’s Own Intellectual Property

The GenreDB name, logo, site design, software, and all other platform elements created by GenreDB are the exclusive property of GenreDB and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works based on GenreDB’s own content without our prior written permission. —

5. User-Generated Content

5.1 Your Responsibility

You are solely responsible for the content you post on GenreDB, including book listings, descriptions, reviews, comments, forum posts, and any other material (“User Content”). By posting User Content, you represent and warrant that: – You have the rights necessary to post that content and to grant GenreDB the license described in Section 4.2 – Your content does not infringe the intellectual property, privacy, or other rights of any third party – Your content complies with these Terms and all applicable laws

5.2 Content Standards

User Content must not: – Infringe on any copyright, trademark, trade secret, or other intellectual property right – Violate any person’s right to privacy or publicity – Be defamatory, harassing, abusive, threatening, or discriminatory – Contain sexually explicit material involving minors – Constitute spam or unsolicited commercial communications – Spread misinformation in a way that could cause harm GenreDB does not pre-screen all User Content but reserves the right to review, remove, or restrict access to any content that violates these Terms or that we determine, in our reasonable discretion, is harmful to the community. —

6. Prohibited Conduct

7. Community Guidelines

GenreDB is built on mutual respect between authors and readers. We expect all users to engage with the community in good faith. Constructive criticism is welcome; personal attacks, hate speech, and bad-faith behavior are not. We reserve the right to update our community guidelines and to take action against users who undermine the spirit of a healthy, inclusive community. —

8. Content Moderation and Account Suspension

GenreDB reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to: – Remove or restrict access to any User Content that violates these Terms or our community guidelines – Issue warnings to users who violate these Terms – Temporarily suspend or permanently terminate accounts that engage in serious or repeated violations – Report illegal activity to appropriate law enforcement authorities We will endeavor to act fairly and consistently, but we cannot guarantee review of every piece of content or every reported dispute.
