The world has already burned. In the wake of Rahim’s Wrath, the clans lie shattered, their keeps reduced to ruin and ash. Mals roam the land in mindless hunger, and the surviving Remnant cling to life beneath darkened skies and three silent moons.
The world has already burned. In the wake of Rahim’s Wrath, the clans lie shattered, their keeps reduced to ruin and ash. Mals roam the land in mindless hunger, and the surviving Remnant cling to life beneath darkened skies and three silent moons. Azil Harkness, vessel of the Golden Aspect, hunts a new and terrible mystery. A single word spreads like a contagion among the Mals: Thirst. Drawn by visions and an unseen call, they march in vast numbers toward something hidden beneath the earth. What Azil discovers is worse than madness. In the depths of a forgotten cavern, a former friend rises wreathed in purple flame, reshaping the cursed into something stronger, deadlier… and loyal only to him. If the transformation spreads, the realm will not merely suffer, it will be conquered. As divine Aspects maneuver in secret and loyalties fracture, Azil must decide how far obedience to a god should go. Because if Rahim’s promised golden age demands sacrifice beyond redemption, the cost may be the very souls he seeks to save.
