“With exceptional world-building, tight writing, and plenty of layers, Galassi delivers a solid series continuation and a brilliant read. Very highly recommended.” – Jamie Michele, Readers’ Favorite The epic journey that began with Ànifa and her companions continues in the second installment of the Rebalancing the Cosmos series. Deep in the Volgash Desert on the planet Melridion lies a hidden compound that the rest of the Vortex Solar System knows nothing about. Owned by Lord Foxaire, a deeply cunning Lakinceitian, the compound holds many valuable secrets. Among those secrets are captives, including some of Ànifa’s companions from the first book. Professor Navacus Clums, a highly valued employee at the compound, is introduced to formidable secrets in the underground facilities. Due to the arrival of strange Humans from another system, his tour is cut short. Now, Navacus faces a dilemma. He can’t speak to his team about his time underground and the horrors within, and he is barred from visiting again until further notice. This doesn’t stop Navacus from doing everything he can to uncover more secrets hidden deep within the compound. Thanks to information provided by his former test subject, West Kilinder, and a mysterious Light Being, Navacus knows that he and his team cannot remain at the compound much longer. Can Navacus, West, and the rest of their crew navigate the perils of the compound and escape from Melridion unscathed? “Galassi’s imaginative world-building expands beyond a mere setting, developing a lived-in universe with its own rules and history.” – K.C. Finn, Readers’ Favorite “The descriptions of the vivid settings and emotional turmoil of the characters are fantastic. I loved Navacus’s dilemma and how he fought with his moral obligations!” – Rabina Tanveer, Readers’ Favorite
"Author Alex Galassi demonstrates remarkable skill in crafting a narrative that keeps readers gripped from start to finish. The balance between the grand scope of the universe and the intimate character moments that ground the story has readers turning pages. The intricate plotting and layered suspense create constant tension while revealing thrilling twists that never feel forced. The dialogue propels the story forward with a natural delivery of information and emotion. Galassi's imaginative world-building expands beyond a mere setting, developing a lived-in universe with its own rules and history. The characters show remarkable emotional depth alongside their high-stakes adventures, making their struggles feel genuine and meaningful. They faced increasingly difficult moral choices in their journeys. The exploration of knowledge versus morality runs subtly but strongly throughout the narrative, raising thought-provoking questions about the cost of scientific advancement. Overall, Escape From Melridion is a compelling addition to the science fiction genre that will leave readers eager for the next installment, and I certainly recommend it."

"Complex and entertaining, Escape from Melridion was everything I hoped it would be and more. Although I haven’t read the previous novel in the series, I had no issues catching up and loving the story. Author Alex Galassi masterfully builds the narrative, blending complex character development arcs with intricate world-building. The pacing is fast, which creates tension as Navacus delves deeper into the compound’s hidden horrors. The moral struggles faced by the characters (particularly Navacus) make the story more entertaining. The descriptions of the vivid settings and emotional turmoil of the characters are fantastic. I loved Navacus’s dilemma and how he fought with his moral obligations! I enjoyed Theodore (his determination and his sarcastic words), and of course, Anifa was fantastic. Escape from Melridion seamlessly combines elements of science fiction, mystery, and action. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I will now read the first novel in the series and revisit Escape from Melridion once again."

"Escape From Melridion by Alex Galassi is more than just straightforward science fiction; it is also a philosophical exploration of advanced metaphysical concepts. The Light Being, named Sterg, transcends physical limitations and introduces phenomena beyond human experience, like the idea of consciousness being separate from the soul. What I love most is that Galassi drives home the desire of all beings to rebel against the crushing of freedom. The standout to me is the Titans, who are bred specifically to serve Foxaire’s goals and are born into a system that defines them by their utility. When West begins to rebel against the facility, the act of rebellion becomes a personal act of reclaiming humanity. The battle scenes are fast-paced and exciting, particularly in an escape attempt that employs both hand-to-hand tactical combat and supernatural ability, from Navacus' surprising knife skills, an Ancilsan with spiked metal knuckles, and Kaytrona’s electric energy. Overall, with exceptional world-building, tight writing, and plenty of layers, Galassi delivers a solid series continuation and a brilliant read. Very highly recommended."
