Missing in Metro City is a supernatural private-eye story about a man who must resurrect his dormant abilities to help solve a case involving kidnapping, murder, deceit, and betrayal—all the while discovering his purpose and self-worth.
Imagine a world where the supernatural collides with the gritty reality of private investigation. In this gripping tale set in Metro City, a man faces the daunting task of resurrecting his dormant abilities to navigate a labyrinth of kidnapping, murder, and deceit. As he delves deeper into this high-stakes case, he not only seeks justice but also embarks on a profound journey of self-discovery and understanding his own worth.
Readers will be captivated by the blend of suspense and emotional depth, finding themselves immersed in a story that challenges the boundaries of belief and purpose. This isn’t just a mystery; it’s a powerful exploration of what it means to confront one’s past and embrace the extraordinary. Prepare to be drawn into a narrative that resonates long after the last page is turned.
Missing in Metro City is currently in its final read-through stages. It has already been through countless drafts (I’d say at least seven; maybe even ten), and has enlisted the help of around five beta readers.
I hope to finish and publish the book by the end of November 2026, or, at least, no later than the end of 2026.

Eric Beaty began his entrepreneurial career as a well-known guitar instructor on YouTube and performing artist in the Bluegrass guitar circuit. Before dedicating greater focus to his writing career, Eric created and authored several guitar instructional courses and companion books.
In the years since pursuing writing as a career in addition to his music, Eric has authored many books, stories, poems, essays, blog posts, and songs. The basis for much of Eric’s writing comes from a great many notebooks and journals that he fills with his experiences, ideas, and stories. In fact, as an additional resource in 2023, Eric created his own Substack, Gleaning Words, to host the best of these "gleaned" journal entries. He later created his fiction newsletter 🦁 The Fiction Tamer.
Eric has also participated in—and thrice won—the popular writing competition National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) in the years 2009, 2015, and 2018. He was also a shortlist winner for the "Art of the Title" competition hosted by the Self-Publishing Advice Conference (SelfPubCon) in 2023. In January of 2026, Eric achieved bestselling status with his SMART FOCUS series.
Originally from Monterey, Tennessee, Eric now lives with his wife, Melissa, and their son, DJ, in the ever-growing city of Crossville, Tennessee. He is currently at work on yet another one of his many creative projects.
