The dialogue and internal monologues captured so well the differences between the characters, whether they be normal, high school-aged boy; young, single mother; juvenile elf; haughty wizard; or overlooked, mute girl, they were all portrayed with their own voice, their own motivations, and their own form of bravery. The second was just how beautifully the worlds were described. Few books manage to pull off such diversity of setting in a way that feels so immersive and wondrous.

This is ultimately a story of self-discovery, of bravery, and of friendship. Sometimes life doesn’t challenge us enough to find out who we can really be, what we are capable of, or who we can really trust.
